On International Women’s Day this year, my voice was on Kiss FM Kenya appreciating three power women that I have come to love, not only as friends but because of their undying passion in what they do. They have transcended the common expectation among African societies of what a typical successful woman is like. They have gone on to represent the country internationally. Here they are:
Back in June 2014, I was busy looking for a job — any job as long as it was in media. I was lucky enough to bump into an internship advertisement on the iHub blog. It was by Destination Magazine. I had been a fan of the magazine for many months prior to this discovery. I loved the fact that they interviewed big Hollywood celebs…Tyler Perry, Zoe Saldana, Avril Lavigne, Taraji P. Henson…you name them. They had all appeared on the covers of a Kenyan magazine whose HQ was in Karen.
Top African dancer Nqobile Danseur has had a splendid career so far, with her hallmark being on tour with Drake this year. The sold out Summer Sixteen Tour has been one of the most hyped events this year. The down-to-earth, stylish, inspiring and visionary lady is part of a trio dubbed CEO Dancers, which has had a run since 2010.
Whoa! Can you believe that it’s 2017? Daamn! 2016 was a rather looong year. To some, it might have seemed super short because of their usual 8-5 schedule. I hope yours was fabulous and I wish you an amazing 2017.
First of all, thank you for your continued support and I hope we continue growing together this year.
Yeeaaahh! I finally got to have my maiden photo shoot, after years and years (not the UK artist) of planning. I ain’t even kidding. Back in 2013, I attempted a studio shoot, something
random but I loved the results.
Having signed up for my Teen Vogue x Parsons fashion course even pushed me more towards having this shoot. It happened a few weeks ago. On a hectic evening, we were cruising through the streets of Westlands – from Diamond Plaza – to Zen Garden in Spring Valley.
You may have opened your Uber app last weekend and noted something interesting — the “UberGIVING” notification. Well, it was a really cool initiative by the Uber to support the SOS Children’s Villages in Nairobi, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Watoto Childcare Ministries in Kampala. They got their Christmas gifts early from Uber riders who donated food stuffs, toiletries, books, stationery and kids toys through the Uber App.
Born in Cuba, leading Hollywood makeup artist Viven Sainz is a force to reckon with. Her artsy approach to depicting her craft has been partly instrumental to her stellar career in Cali, as she fondly calls it.From working with LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” — which now has over 1 billion views on Youtube — to recently immersing herself in Drake and Future’s Summer Sixteen Tour, Vivien has been in the game for many years.
